Kyle:  "I had contacted my friend Chris Sharpe the day before to acquire access to the hall and make sure he had it cleared out by 10pm the next night. He loaned me the access card of a resident who was going to be out of town that week so I could get in. Earlier that evening I hid the game of Monopoly in one of the storage drawers in the lobby."

When they arrived at Emerson, Kyle approached the door and to Sarah's surprise, swiped the card and opened the doors.

Sarah:  "As we walked up to the entrance I was wondering how he planned to get in. I thought he might call up to someone he knew to let us in or that maybe his ID card somehow still worked on the scanner. At the same time, my mind was racing with the nostalgia of walking through those doors and the excitement of not knowing what Kyle was going to do next."

The couple walked into the big hall and Sarah stopped to soak it in. Kyle quickly walked over to the chest of drawers and pulled out the Monopoly game he had planted earlier that evening.

"Oh! Are we going to play Monopoly like when we first met?! That's so sweet!" Sarah said in a teasing, but impressed tone.

Sarah:  "Inside I kind of had a feeling what he was going to do, but I had convinced myself that it wasn't going to happen on Valentine's Day. Kyle hates Valentine's Day and I thought maybe this was his way of trying to throw me off and enhance the element of surprise."

Kyle told Sarah to hang back a second while he pulled the game out.

Kyle:  "I was trying to hold her back so I could reach in my pocket to get the ring. I clenched the ring between two fingers on my right hand so I could hold onto it without her seeing while we arranged the furniture. I moved the table and chairs in front of the fireplace, the same way they were set up the night we first met."   Continue...
